Bayou Dreaming
When I visited the bayou of New Orleans, the slow-moving shallow water and the dense vegetation gave me an intense feeling of otherworldliness. It was a mystical experience where I felt that I had entered a dreamscape, almost untouched by civilization.
In this collection, I am exploring that dreamy feeling in an abstract expressionist way with the depth and subtlety of oils. The medium allows my brushes to glide over the canvas while I apply and layer thin washes of colour, this technique is reminiscent of my magical visit when we were silently gliding through the bayou.
